HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-0960J-83-891 r► 0 RESOLUTION NO. 83--960, A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF LANZO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $715,508, BID "C" OF THE PROPOSAL PLUS ADDITIVE BID "C", FOR KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT (2ND BIDDING.)NIN KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT SR-5485-C&S (CENTERLINE AND SIDELINE SEWERS); 14ITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVE- MENT" ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $715,508 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $93,016 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $14,311 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM WHEREAS, sealed bids were received September 7, 1983 for KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT (2ND BIDDING) in KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT SR-5485-C&S (centerline and sideline sewers); and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid received from Lanzo Construction Company be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation Ordinance No. 9534, as amended, was adopted on December 9, 1982, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from the account entitled "Kinloch Sanitary Sewer Improvement", as set forth under Section IV.B.9, of said ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MIEE'I'ING OF OCT 25 1983 1RES0LUiG,, to. LREMARKS -- Section 1. The September 7, 1933 bid of Lanzo Construction Company, in the proposed amount of $715,508, for the project entitled KINLOCH SANITARY SE14ER IMPROVE- MENT (2ND BIDDING) in KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT SR-5485-C&S (centerline and sideline sewers), for Bid "C" of the proposal, plus Additive Bid "C", based on unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 2. The amount of $715,508 is hereby allocated from the account entitled "Kinloch Sanitary Sewer Improvement" to cover the cost of said contract. Section 3. The additional amount of $93,016 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of project expense. Section 4. The additional amount of $14,311 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Section 5. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of The City of Miami with Lanzo Construction Company for KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT (2ND BIDDING) in KINLOCH SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT SR-5485-C&S (centerline and sideline sewers), Bid "C" of the proposal, plus Additive Bid "C". This district consists of properties in an area bounded approximately by N.W. 7 Street and West Flagler Street, and is part of the City's continuing program to provide sanitary sewers throughout the City of Miami. As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $715,508 bid of Lanzo Construction Company is the lowest responsible bid for Bid "C" of the proposal, plus additive Bid "C". Funds have been allocated under the "Kinloch Sanitary Sewer Improvement" account for the estimated amount of the contract, for project expense, and for such items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. 25 advertisements were mailed out by certified mail; 56 advertisements were mailed out by regular mail; 23 contractors picked up plans and specifications; 4 contractors submitted bids; the engineer's estimate was $651,000.
