HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-0958J-33-830 RE SOLUTION NO. lows— 5& A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF POWER FEDERAL DETECTIVE BUREAU FOR FURNISHING ARMED SECURITY GUARD SERVICES AT THE MANUEL ARTIME COMMUNITY CENTER ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR TO THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $31,277.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1983- 84 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS SERVICE, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received September 16, 1983 for the furnishing of Armed Security Guard Services at the Manuel Artime Community Center on a Contract Basis for One (1) Year to the Department of Community Development; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 39 potential suppliers and 19 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1983-84 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Community Development for the purpose of providing for the safety and security of City property; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the De- partment of Community Development recommend that the bid received from Power Federal Detective Bureau be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, TIiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The September 16, 1983 bid of Power Federal Detective Bureau for furnishing Armed Security Guard Services at the Manuel Artime Communtiy Center on a Contract Basis for one (1) year to the Department of Community Development at a total proposed cost of $31,277.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1983-84 Operating Budget of that Department. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received September 16, 1983 from 19 firms interested in furnishing Security Guard Services for the Manuel Artime Community Center on a contract basis for one year for the Department of Community Development. Power Federal Detective Bureau, Inc. was the lowest bidder at $4.80 hr. This is a continuation of security guard service which is necessary for the safety and security of City property. State records show that firm has been in business less than one year. 2) Occupational License Number not provided with bid. 3) References - Bidders were asked to provide three (3) references. Two (2) of the three references submitted by this firm are unverifiable. All other bids meet the specifications. It is recommended that the award be made to the next lowest bidder, Power Federal Detective Bureau, Inc., which is registered and cer- tified with the City as a Hispanic American business, in accordance with the Minority Vendor Procurement Program.
