Appropriations Ordinance No. 9534 was adopted the 9th of December, 1982, appropriating a sum of $270,000 for Police Parking Garage Improvements from the 1970 Police Headquarters and Crime Prevention Facilities General Obligation Bond Funds. Currently a contract known as "MMPD Garage Floor Resurfacing" in the amount of $93,800 exists and it too is being funded by the appropriation. The contract for the current project makes no provisions for reloca- tion of employee parking while the floors in the parking garage are being resurfaced. Arrangements have been made by the Police Depart- ment to relocate the employee parking into the newly completed Downtown Government Center Parking Facility and the estimated cost for the parking fees will be $38,000. Funds to cover the cost of the parking are available from the $270,000 originally appropriated, and the Directors of the Departments of Police and Public Works recommend an increase in the Incidental Expense allocation for the project so that payment can be made directly to the Department of Off -Street Parking for the parking fees. (For Commission Meeting of October 25, 1983) The Departments of Public Works and Police recommend the adoption of a resolution authorizing an increase in contract amount not to exceed $9,900 for the contract between the City of Miami and ACI-Century Inc. for the construction of MMPD Garage Floor Resurfacing, and also authorizing an increase not to exceed $38,000 in the Incidental Expense Fund for the same pro- ject, said amounts to be provided from funds allocated for the Police Parking Garage from 1970 Police Headquarters and Crime Prevention Facilities General Obli- gation Bond Fund by Ordinance No. 9534 dated December 9, 1982. There exists a contract dated June 20, 1983 between the City of Miami and ACI-Century Inc. in the amount of $93,800 for the MMPD Garage Resurfacing project. We have determined that it is nece- ssary to seal more cracks in the existing floor slabs than origi- nally estimated and the additional work will necessitate an in- crease in the contract amount of $9,900. Also, the contract makes no provision for relocation of employee parking while the floors in the garage are being resurfaced. Arrangements have been made by the Police Department to relocate the employee parking to the newly completed Downtown Government Center Parking Facility and the estimated cost of the parking fees will be $38,000. Funds to cover both the increase in contract amount and the in- crease in the Incidental Expense Fund are available from the $270,000 originally appropriated by Ordinance No. 9534 dated December 9, 1982. Since preparation of the paperwork, we have found that we need an increase in the contract amount on the project to cover additional costs we will incur to seal cracks in the floor slabs. Attached is a completely new set of paperwork requesting a resolution to increase the contract amount and increase the Incidental Expense Fund. If possible we would like to get it on the October 25 agenda. LEL:vh Resolution Attached 83-945,
