ENCLOSURES
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY
COMMISSION AUTHORIZE THE CITY MAN-
AGER TO AMEND THE LEASE AGREEMENT
WITH THE COCONUT GROVE BANK TO IN-
CREASE THE PROPOSED AMOUNT FROM
$240,000 TO $246,000 ANNUALLY, AN
INCREASE OF $6, 000 ANNUALLY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF OVERHAULING AND UPGRAD-
ING THE UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY
EQUIPMENT OF THE NEW COMPUTER CEN-
TER.
The City Coamission on July 23, 1983, approved a resolution
authorizing you to enter into a lease agreement with the Coconut
Grove Bank for the lease of the facility located at 2850
Tigertail Avenue.
The resolution as approved was for the pr020sed amour t of
$240,000 annually. Subsequent to the passing of the resolution
and the evaluation of all the requirements of the new computers
and the facility, the determination has been made that the Unin-
terrupted Power Supply needs major overhauling and upgrade to
meet our needs.
It is not feasible to transfer the UPS currently being used in
the Police building because of the cost associated with the move
(350, 000) and the capaci ty. The installed UPS has a capacity of
120 KVA and at miniaum our requirements are 180 KVA.

The overhaul and upgrade of the UPS is an expensive undertaking
estimated to cost about $60,000. The bank has agreed to under-
take this effort provided we pay a portion of the cost ($6,000 a
year additional) for the term of the lease (not to exceed five
years), which means the City's share of the UPS cost is $30,000
of the $60,000 estimated cost. I am, therefore, requesting your
approval of this proposed amendment to the original lease.
