Knight International Center REFERENCE�dvisory Committee - Duties and Responsibilities ENCLOSURES It is recommended the proposed resolution be adopted amending Resolution No. 79-56, dated January 18, 1979, clarifying the duties and responsibilities of the City of Miami/University of Miami James L. Knight International Center Advisory Committee. The members of the Advisory Committee are concerned that through a misconception of their duties and responsibilities criticism of their actions could be forthcoming. Consequently, they have submitted this resolution for the purpose of amending and clarifying their expected role in the operation of the Center. In particular, the Committee feels the originally designated responsibility that they approve the Center's annual operating budget when realistically they cannot afford the time for involvement in the Center's daily operation required to provide firsthand input in the budget preparation. To accomplish this request, the word_- "with approval of the Committee" appearing in Section 3, page 3, second line of Resolu- tion 79-56, dated January 18, 1979, would have to be deleted. We have examined the Agreement of April 1, 1977, which is incorporated in the Lease Agreement dated June 30, 1983, between the City and University of Miami and found that this amendment would not impact on these Agreements. We have also examined Ordinance No. 8741, dated January 11, 1978, which created the Department of Conferences and Conventions. The proposed amendment would not affect the position of the Department Director, who also is the Executive Director of the Center, and his responsibilities with regard to the Center's Advisory Committee. 83-930 N Howard V.
