Brice, Chief Director of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department DATE: September 29, 1983 rILE SU9JEc- Resolution for Procurement of Replacement Parts for aerial Ladder REFERENCES! ENCLOSURES. It is recommended that a resolution be passed, waiving the requirement for formal sealed bids, authorizing the procurement of Replacement Parts for a 1959 model aerial Ladder, from the only reasonable source of supply, American La France, at a total proposed cost of $14,001.66. Replacement parts are required to complete the refurbishing of Fire Accaratus 10 (No. N-424) begun earlier this year. Parts will be used to repair the 1959 model American La France 100 ft. aerial Ladder on this apparatus, and consist of main turntable bearing assembly, lift cylinder, slides and rollers, which were unavailable at the start of work, due to the age of the original equipment. Compatible replacement parts are now available only from the original equipment manufacturer, American La France. The manufacturer has indicated that these parts would be modified and produced according to their specifications to fit this City equipment and blueprints and other pertinent data could not be made available for competitive bidding, in order to maintain rigid safety standards and equipment integrity. Procurement of these aerial parts will allow the apparatus refurbish- ment to be completed, bringing it up to current standards and would enhance the vehicle life, for the protection of the equipment operators and citizens of Miami. Funds for t is purchase are available in the 1983 Fire Apparatus yc- zuisition Replacement and :Modification rro4ect Fund. 83-9163,
