N3-1063 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF TARGET CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $248,800, BASE BID PLUS ADDITIVE ITEM A OF THE PROPOSAL; WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "EXPANSION OF FIRE ALARM OFFICE" ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $248,800 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $29,856 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $2,488 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM WHEREAS, sealed bids were received October 5, 1983 for FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES - OFFICE REDESIGN; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid received from Target Construction Company be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation Ordinance No. 9534, as amended, was adopted on December 9, 1982, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from the account entitled "Expansion of Fire Alarm Office", as set forth under Section XVII.D.3, of said ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The October 5, 1983 bid of Target Construction Company, in the proposed amount of $248,800, for the project entitled FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES - OFFICE REDESIGN, for the base bid plus Additive Item A of the proposal, based on lump sum prices,is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. The amount of $248,800 is herebv allocated from the account entitled "Expansion of Fire Alarm Office" to cover the cost of said contract. Section 3. The additional amount of $29,856 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of project expense. Section 4. The additional amount of $2,488 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Section 5. The City manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of The Citv of Miami with Target Construction Company for FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES - OFFICE REDESIGN, base bid plus Additive Item A of the proposal. Cather Director of Public Works s October 7, 1983 B-2861 FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES - OFFICE REDESIGN - Resolution Awarding Contract (For Commission Meeting of October 25, 1983) The Department of Public Works recommends adoption of the resolution accepting the bid received October 5, 1983 of Target Construction Company in the amount of $248,800; and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Miami for FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES - OFFICE REDESIGN. Bids were received October 5, 1983 for enlarging the existing Alarm Office, constructing a new Meeting Room and a new Storage Room, as well as other modifications to the building. The project is located at the City's Administration Building, 275 N. 1q. Second Street, Miami, Florida. As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $248,800 bid of Target Construction Company is the lowest responsible bid for the base bid plus Additive Item A of the proposal. Funds have been allocated under the "Expansion of Fire Alarm Office" account for the estimated amount of the contract, for project expense, and for such items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Fifteen contractors picked up plans and specifications; 3 contractors submitted bids. The engineer's estimate was $200,000.
