Dear Mr. Howard:

DEPT. 0: 111EXIEATiON
We are now in the process of signing up Dade County golf
courses for participation in the 1984 American Lung Associ-
ation Golf Privilege Card. We certainly hope, that the City
of Miami courses, Mel Reese and Miami Springs will be included,
this time around.
In 1983 we started off with eight courses. We expect to
at least double that number for 184. For a donation of $15.00,
this will still be one of the biggest summertime golfing bar-
gains in Miami. The courses that are involved have been very
pleased with the results and the extra traffic that the cards
have brought in during the off-season months. These courses
will join in with us again and will participate in the 1984 Golf
Privilege Card.
Several months ago I sent you a copy of our Annual Report
along with other material to inform you of the Lung Association's
work (and programs) in our community. You mentioned to me,
previously, in a phone conversation, that the next step would be
to get an okay from the City of Miami Commissioners.
We sincerely hope that the City Fathers will approve our
our Golf Priviledge Card and will support the work of the Lung
Association. in this regard, we are enclosing two copies of
the Golf Privilege Card contract. Please retain one copy for
your file and return the other copy to our office.
Thank you for your consideration.
sincerely,

CITY OF MIAMI. FLORIOA I
INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
CA-E October 31, 1983 FILE
SUBJECT Resolution authorizing
the 1984 American Lung
Association Golf
Privileges Card Program
REFERENCES
ENCLOSURES.
It is recommended that the City of Miami
participates in the 1984 American Lung
Association Golf Privileges Card Program,
as per the attached resolution.
Over the past several years, the City of Miami has participated
in golf card programs which support public health organizations
in fostering research and promote higher standards of health
among our citizenry.
The American Lung Association has initiated a golf priviliges
card program in which a donation of $15.00 will offer a summer-
time bargain to the golfing patron at approximately 16 courses
in greatev Miami. As in the American Cancer Society Golf Card
Program, by mandating electric carts, the City will realize ad-
ditional funds and new golfers are usually introduced to the City's
two courses. The program is a definite advantage to the City.
Under the program, a card holder would be entitled to a waiver of
the cost of a single greens fee for one round of golf, during the
summer months between May 1 and October 31, 1984, at each of the
Melreese Golf Course and City of Miami at .Miami Springs. Starting
time must be scheduled forty-eight (48) hours in advance for any-
time during the weekdays and after 1:00 p.m. on weekends and holi-
days, and an electric golf cart is required.
