Dade and firoward Counties; and WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society desires to include City of Miarni golf courses as part of its offer; and WHEREAS, as a mat ter of good puhl is retat ions the City should vecognize and support this pijhlic health organization which fosters research and promotes higher standards of health among City r_itizens; NOW, THEREFORE, HE II RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF [HE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Sect. ion 1. The City's participation in the American Cancer Society Golf Privileges Card Program is hereby approved and authorized by waiving the cost of a single greens fee for one round of golf t.o each hearer of a 1984 American Cancer Society Golf Privileges Card Holder, during the summer season, at the McIreese Golf Course and the City of Miami Country C I u h at Miami Springs, under terms as follows: 1. FLQRIDA INT!- -'-CFF 10E MEMORANDUM nn�e October 31, 1983 FILr Resolution Authorizing the 1984 American Cancer Society Golf Card Program It is recommended that the City of Miami participate in the 1984 American Cancer Society Golf Card Program, as per the attached resolution. In that the City of Miami has for the past several years, parti- cipated in the American Cancer Society Golf Card Program, it is recommended that the City continue their support of this public health organization which fosters research and promotes higher standards of health among our citizenry. The Cancer Society promotes sale of the golf cards; ten dollars ($10.) for one person, twenty-five ($25.) for a foursome, and last year raised over $25,000. for cancer research. By manda- tory electric carts the City will realize additional funds and through this program new golfers are usually introduced to the City's two courses. This program is a definite advantage for the City. Under this program, a 1984 American Cancer Society Golf Card Holder would be entitled to a waiver of the cost of a single greens fee for one round of golf, during the summer months between May 1 and October 31, 1984, at each of the Melreese Golf Course and City of Miami at Miami Springs. Starting times must be scheduled forty-eight (48) hours in advance for anytime during weekdays and after 1:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays, and an electric golf cart is required.
