AREA, BID "D", IN CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA DISTRICT SR-5497-C (CENTERLINE SEWER); WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER EXTENSIONS IMPROVEMENT" ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $85,235 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $11,080 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $1,705 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM WHEREAS, sealed bids were received October 25, 1983 for CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA, BID "D", in CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA DISTRICT SR-5497-C (centerline sewer); and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid received from Joe Reinertson Equipment Company be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation Ordinance No. 9534, as amended, was adopted on December 9, 1982, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from the account entitled "City Wide Sanitary Sewer Extensions Improvement", as set forth under Section XX.c.l of said ordinance; CITY C0_411'. The October 25, 1983 bid of Joe Reinertson Equipment Company, in the proposed amount of $85,235, for the project entitled CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA, BID "D", in CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA DISTRICT SR-5497-C (centerline sewer), for Bid "D" of the proposal, based on unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 2. The amount of $85,235 is hereby allocated from the account entitled "City Wide Sanitary Sewer Extensions Improvement" to cover the cost of said contract. Section 3. The additional amount of $11,080 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of project expense. Section 4. The additional amount of $1,705 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Section 5. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of The City of Miami with Joe Reinertson Equipment Company for CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA in CITY WIDE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT - ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA DISTRICT SR-5497-C (centerline sewer), Bid "D" of the proposal. Bids were received October 25, 1983 for constructing 8-inch and 10-inch E.S.V.C. sanitary sewers and landscaping. The project will include the construction of approximately 1.0 mile of sanitary sewers in the area bordered by N. W. ZO Street, N. W. 21 Terrace, N. W. 17 Avenue, and N. W. 27 Avenue. As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $85,235 bid of Joe Reinertson Equipment Company is the lowest responsible bid for Bid "D" of the proposal. Funds have been allocated under the "City Wide Sanitary Sewer Extensions Improvement" account for the estimated amount of the contract, for project expense, and for such items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Thirty contractors picked up plans and specifications; 3 contractors submitted bids (including 1 minority Hispanic contractor and no minority Black contractors). The engineer's estimate was $90,000.
