FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO Howard V. Gary DATE. October 17, 1983 FILE: City Manager SUBJECT: Request to Increase Department of Community Development General Fund Allocation FROM: Dena Spillman, Director REFERENCES: City Commission - Department of trnda 3 1V Community Development October 25, 198rn ENCLOSURES L ..7 rn It is recommended that the City Commissionz,- increase the general fund allocation for _ the Department of Community Development in the amount of $25,120 for the purpose of funding a Community Involvement Specialist position to work in the Citizen Response Center and operate the information van, serving as a liaison with the Haitian community, per the attached appropriations ordinance. The Citizen Response Center is currently staffed by four Community Involvement Specialists who are responsible for responding to citizens' requests for infor- mati cn on City services and operations, the operation of the information van, as well as coordinating citizen participation for the Community Development Block Grant program. Since we initiated the information van, we have experienced the need to have someone on the staff who can c a=unicate and respond to requests from the Haitian community. For that reason, an additional position is requested to hire an individual who can serve as a liaison with the Haitian community. The cost of the position is $25,120, which includes social security and fringe benefits. An increase to the Department's general fund allocation by this amount is required to fund the position. /rjf =974P, ,5 MIAMI.REVIEW AND DAILY RECORD Published Daily except Saturday, Sunday and Legal Holidays Miami, Dade County, Florida.
