HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-1100J-83-1069 RESOLUTION NO, S3-1100 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SEVENTY-EIGHT (78) PORTABLE RADIOS AND ACCESSORIES FOR POLICE AND FIRE USE FROM MOTOROLA COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS, INC. UNDER AN EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL COST OF $142,932.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1983-84 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT AND OF THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the Department of Building and Vehicle Mainte- nance, Communications Division is responsible for the supply and maintenance of all communications equipment including, portable radios used continuously by Police and Fire -Rescue personnel; and WHEREAS, there is a currently effective State of Florida Contract No. 725-52-83-1 with Motorola Communications and Elec- tronics, Inc. for the supply of portable radio equipment and accessories; and WHEREAS, said Firm's Contract constitutes a responsible and responsive bid that meets the City's specifications for this herein equipment; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing replacements for worn and outdated equipment for both Police and Fire Personnel, and to supply new equipment to the Department of Police for one-man patrols; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1983-84 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Miantenance recommend that the purchase from Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc. be approved; CITY COMiMSS�`()N MEETI14C OF DEC 8 1983 RESOLUTION No83"1100 RF..M1.RKS. r • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the purchase of Seventy-eight (78) Portable Radios and Accessories for Police and Fire use from Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc. under an existing State of Florida contract, for the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a total cost of $142,932.00 is hereby approved with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1983-84 Operating Budget of that Department and of the Department of Police. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue Purchase Orders for this equipment. ATTEST: PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of December 1983. Cox, Director Building and Vehicle Maintenance DATE November 18, 1983 FrLE Sue:EC7 Request for Commission Action ?EFERENCES FNZLOSI:RES Resolution THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AN-D VEHICLE MAINTENANCE REQUESTS THAT A RESOLUTION BE PASSED, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FIFTY-THREE (53) PORTABLE POLICE RADIOS WITH ACCESSORIES AND TWENTY-FIVE (25) PORT- ABLE FIRE RADIOS WITH ACCESSORIES FROM MOTOROLA COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS, INC., UNDER AN EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT, AT A TOTAL COST OF $142,932.00. This resolution is requested in order to replace twenty-five (25) existing portable Fire radios and twenty (20) existing portable Police radios. Each of the existing radios have been in service for several years and are in need of replacement. The additional thirty three (33) Police radios are new purchases and are required to support the Police Department's plan to implement one-man Patrol units in lieu of existing two -man Patrol units. As stated, this new equipment is to be purchased from the State of Florida Contract and is readily available. Funds for the forty- five (45) replacement radios are budgeted in the Building and Vehicle Maintenance FY 183-84 budget appropriation. Thirty (30) of the new and additional radios are funded in the Building and Vehicle Maintenance budget through a transfer of funds from Police Capital equipment. The remaining three (3) are funded within the FY '83-84 Police Department's budget appropriation. 83-1100
