FOR FURNISHING TWO ( 2 ) PIECES OF PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSING EQUIPMENT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT A TOTAL COST OF $5,313.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE PRIOR YEAR RESERVE FUND; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received August 26, 1983 for the furnishing of Two (2) Pieces of Photographic Processing Equipment (one Densitometer and one,Color Analyzer) to the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 19 potential suppliers and 2 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the Prior Year Reserve Fund; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Police for the purpose of providing new equipment to the Criminal Investigation Section; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Police recommend that the bid received from Phillips and Jacobs, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMdI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The August 26, 1983 bid of Phillips and Jacobs, Inc. for furnishing Two (2) Pieces of Photographic Processing Equipment to the Department of Police at a total cost of $5,313.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Prior Year Reserve Fund. Gary DATE: FILE: City Manager SUBJECT: Recommendation for Resolution and Award of Bid No. 82-83-104 Photographic Processing Equipment FROM: Herbert Breslow REFERENCES: i Chief of Police I ENCLOSURES: Award of Bid and Resolution It is recommended that the award be made and a resolution be passed accepting the most advantageous bid as received from Phillips and Jacobs for furnishing Photographic Processing Equipment at a total cost of $5,313.00. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received on August 26, 1983 for furni,hing photographic processing equipment to the Department of Police, consisting of one (1) densitometer and one (1) color anal)?Zer. Invitations were mailed to nineteen (19) potential suppliers and two (2) bids were received. This is a'regular purchase of new equipment for the Criminal Investigation Section to allow more efficient and detailed proc- essing of photographs used for evidence. Two (2) "no bid" replies were received from Minority Businesses, D & M. Film & Paper, Ltd_. (Black) and American Photo, Inc. (Hispanic Business). BID EVALUATION: All bids meet the specifications.
