UNDER AN EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOI.`�L COST OF $5,300.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM 1983 STATE OF FLORIDA SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT GRANT; AUTHORIZIN-, THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCKeNSING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THI2' EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, video recordings are required as evidence necessary for the successful prosecution of D.U.I. offenders; and WHEREAS, Video Equipment (recorders, closed-circuit •_ cameras and monitors) placed in the City's new B.A.T. (Breath Alcohol Testing) Mobile will enable police personnel to obtain •. said evidence; and WHEREAS, there is a currently effective State of Florida Contract No. 840-00-84-1 with Midwest Communications, Inc. for furnishing video equipment; and • WHEREAS, said Firm's Contract constitutes a responsible and responsive bid that meets the City's requirements for this • herein equipment; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing all necessary equipment to the Department of Police for the new B.A.T. Mobile; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1983 State of Florida Selective Traffic Enforcement Grant; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the purchase from Midwest Communications, Inc. be approved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the purchase of Two (2) each Video Recorders, Cameras, and Monitors from Midwest Communications, CITY COMMISSION MEE,TING OF JAN 19 119841 �RESOIujio,4 Wu. 84-65 �1EhtARK, W 4W 0 Inc.. under an existing State of Florida contract, for the Department of Buildi.nq and Vehicle Maintenance at a total cost of $5,300.00 is hereby approved with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1983 State of Florida Selective Traffic Enforcement Grant. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby author- ized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue Purchase Orders for this equipment. PASSED AND ADOPTED this_ 19th day of January 1984. E. . o X , rector REFERENCES: Building & Vehicle Maintenance ENCLOSURES: Resolution • THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE REQUESTS THAT A RESOLUTION BE PASSED, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) VIDEO RECORDERS , TWO (2) COLOR VIDEO CAMERAS AND TWO (2) VIDEO CLOSE CIRCUIT MONITORS FROM MIDWEST COMMUNI- CATIONS, INC., UNDER AN EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT, AT A TOTAL COST OF $5,300.00. This resolution is requested in order to provide special video equipment for the new BAT (blood alcohol test) mobile unit to be used by the Police Department. As stated, this new equipment is to be purchased from the State _ of Florida contract and is readily available. Funds For this equipment are budgeted from the Police Department's Capital Equipment DUI Grant Funds for Fiscal Year 1983-84. 84-65.
