FOR FURNISHING CUSTODIAL SERVICES AT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTERS ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR, RENEWABLE ANNUALLY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL PROPOSED FIRST YEAR COST NOT TO EXCEED $8,500.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1983-84 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS SERVICE, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received November 15, 1983 for the furnishing of complete Custodial Services at the Department of Computers on a Contract Basis for one (1) year renewable annually to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 46 potential suppliers and 20 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1983-84 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing complete regular custodial and grounds maintenance services at the new Citv facility; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the bid received from A.A. Reliable Janitorial Services, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The November 15, 1983 bid of A.A. Reliable Janitorial Services, Inc. for furnishing Custodial Services at the Department of Computers on a Contract Basis for one (1) year, renewable annually to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a total proposed first year cost not to exceed $8,500.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated ------------------- CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J A N 199 1984 RESOU1IWN i10 84-f REMARKS , from the 1983-84 Oper-atinq Budget of that Department. A. RELIABLE JANITORIAL SERVICES, INC. FOR CUS- TODIAL AND GROUNDS `1AINTENANCE SERVICES AT THE NEW COMPUTER CENTER AND AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED S8,500.00. With the move of the Department of Computers to their new facility at 2850 Tigertail, Coconut Grove, comes the need for building custodial services and grounds maintenance. These requirements were sent out for competitive bidding under City of Miami Bid #83-84-10. A total of twenty (20) bids were received with the lowest responsible and responsive bid coming from the recommended vendor, A. A. Reliable Janitorial Services, Inc. Based on monthly and hourly quotes, the annual cost of these services should not exceed $8,500.00. Minority response equalled 90% of the bids received (60% Black, 30% Hispanic). The response rate (bids received v. bids sent) was 46% for Blacks and 75% for Hispanics, for an average of 53% for both Minorities. The recommended bidder, A.A. Reliable Janitorial Service, Inc. Is registered with the City as a Certified Black American Business in accordance with the Minority Vendor Procurement Program.
