Gary City Manager CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM Charlotte Gallogly ci FROM: Director ` Department of Economic Development DATE: December 21, 1983 FILE: SUBJECT Approval For The Solicitation Of Bids For The Printing Of The Miami Business Report - EFERENCE919 8 3 January 12th Commission ENCLOSURES: Meeting Agenda "It is recommended that the attached Resolution be adopted by the City Commission for the purpose of authorizing approval for the soli- citation of bids for the printing of the Miami Business Report-1983." In March of 1983, the Department of Economic Development published the Miami Business Report-1982 for distribution to the Greater Miami business community, as well as, the United States and inter- national business community. This publication, produced by the Department of Economic Development (DED) with the financial assistance of the Barnett Bank of South Florida, N.A., was in great demand from all parts of the U.S., as well as, the Caribbean, Europe, South and Central America. The publication provided detailed, in depth documentation and analyses of the local economic base, economic and business activity and detailed demographic information about our community. Due to the success of the Miami Business Report-1982, the Department of Economic Development will publish the second, up-to-date edition of the Miami Business Report shortly after the first of the year. The DED has budgeted $14,177 in its FY '83-'84 departmental budget for this publication. The department is presently seeking a co- sponsor in this venture and printing costs would be born equally by the City and the co-sponsor. Due to the fact that the estimated cost of printing the Miami Busi- ness Report-1983 will exceed $4,500, it is necessary that approval be given so that the bid process may commence.
