HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-84-00246 C J-84-25 1/13/84 RESOLUTION NO. tli A"'AZI A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE DEDICATION OF THE NEW GREAT MASONIC TEMPLE, WHICH IS TO BE HELD JANUARY 22, 1984, SPONSORED BY THE GRAND LODGE OF CUBA, INC.; CLOSING A PORTION OF NORTHWEST 22ND AVENUE TO TRAFFIC ON THAT DATE DURING SPECIFIC HOURS AND ESTABLISHING A PEDESTRIAN MALL SUBJECT TO ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS. WHEREAS, the Grand Lodge of Cuba, Inc., a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida, has requested cooperation from the City of Miami in connection with the dedication ceremony of that organization's new Great Masonic Temple; and WHEREAS, the Grand Lodge of Cuba, Inc., located at 901 Northwest 22nd Avenue, within the City of Miami, has requested permission to temporarily close that portion of Northwest 22nd Avenue between 7th and llth Streets in order to facilitate celebration activities on January 22, 1984. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to establish a temporary pedestrian mall on January 22, 1984, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for dedication ceremonies of the new Great Masonic Temple, sponsored by the Grand Lodge of Cuba, Inc_., a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida, Northwest 22nd Avenue between 7th and llth Streets is hereby closed to traffic between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, subject to the issuance of permits by the Police and Fire Departments. Our office has been contacted by Mr. Salas Amaro (643-4036 and 649-7093) with the petition that they be allowed to close N.W. 22nd Avenue between 7th and llth Street on January 22nd, 1934, between the hours of 9a.M. and 12 noon. The reason for their petition is the inauguration of the Consa- gration of the Great Masonic Temple in that area. Therefore they would like to reruest that they be placed on the next Commission Meeting Agenda so that their petition may be heard.
