HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-84-0089J-84-90 RESOLUTION NO, V 1 8.1k� A RESOLUTION RATIFYING,, CONFIRMING, AND APPROVING THE ACTIONS OF THE CITY MANAGER BY A FOUR -FIFTHS VOTE OF THE CITY COMMIS- SION IN AUTHORIZING THE EMERGENCY PURCHASE OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE JOISTS AND THE RE- INFORCING STEEL REQUIRED FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE CONCERT STAGE AT THE MIAMI BASEBALL STADIUM IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $31,200. WHEREAS, the Department of Building and Vehicle Main- tenance is charged with the responsibility of constructing a permanent concert stage at the Miami Baseball Stadium; and WHEREAS, this concert stage is to be used for Commis- sion approved and scheduled concerts at this City of Miami facility during the upcoming Spring season; and WHEREAS, in order to continue construction, the above described prestressed concrete joists and the reinforcing steel is required to maintain schedule; and WHEREAS, the formal bid procedure for the purchase of these construction materials will cause unusual delays in the com- pletion of this project; and WHEREAS, emergency action was required on the part of the City in order to complete the concert stage in time for scheduled activities at the Miami Baseball Stadium; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The action of the City Manager in author- izing the emergency purchase of prestressed concrete joists and the reinforcing steel in an amount not to exceed $31,200 is hereby ratified, approved, and confirmed. Section 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized by a four -fifths vote of the City Commission to issue purchase orders in a manner consistent with proper purchasing practices in order to meet this emergency need.
