RUFF AND COMPANY FOR FURNISHING FINE (5) DESKS AND TWENTY=TWO (22) CHAIRS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE] RESCUE AND INSPECTION stgVlCES AT A TOTAL COST OF $8,527.73; ALLOCATING PUN08 THEREFOR FROM THE 1981 FIREFIGHTINGi FIRE PREVENTION AND RESCUE FACILITIES BOND FUND; AUTHOR= DING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received December 27, 1983 for the furnishing of 5 Desks and 22 Chairs for three (3) Fire Stations to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 35 potential suppliers and 3 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1981 Firefighting, Fire Prevention and Rescue Facilities Bond Fund; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of providing new equipment to replace worn furnishing at Fire Stations 1, 4 and 5; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that the bid received from Thomas W. Ruff and Company be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COM14ISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The December 27, 1983 bid of Thomas W. Ruff and Company for furnishing five (5) Desks and Twenty- two (22) Chairs to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services at a total cost of $8,527.73 is hereby accepted with _funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1981 Firefighting, Fire Prevention and Rescue Facilities Bond Fund, CITY COMMISSION MUTING OF F E 0 9 19014 REMARKS. Products offered by this bidder were of wood construction where steel was required. All other bids meet the specifications. Litton Office Products, Inc. submitted the second lowest bid on only one item (no. 6 desk) . The savings afforded ( $18.00 ) does not warrant splitting the award. Thomas 11. Ruff and Company submitted the lowest bid on all other items and is recommended.
