A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE 13I08 OF RADIATOR
ICING` INC. FOR FURNISHING RADIATOR REPAIRS
AND RECORES AT A PROPOSED COST OF $200200.00,
AND A & A GLASS AND MIRROR FOR FURNISHING
AUTOMOTIVE GLASS ANO INSTALLATION AT A PRO-
POSED COST OF $14,400.00 ON A CONTRACT BASIS
FOR ONE (1) YEAR TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING
AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL PROPOSED
COST OF $34,600.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR
FRONT THE 1983-84 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DE-
PARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INS-
TRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE PUR-
CHASE ORDERS FOR THESE SERVICES, SUBJECT TO
THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received December 2, 1984 for the furnishing of Automotive
Radiator and Glass Repair Services on a Contract Basis for One
(1) Year to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance;
and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 36 potential
suppliers and 8 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in
the 1983-84 Operating Budget; and
WHEREAS, these services will be used by the Department
of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing
regular repair services for City Vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that
the bids received from Radiator King, Inc. and A & A Glass and
Mirror be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA;
Section 1. The December 2, 1983 bids of Radiator
King, Inc, for furnishing Radiator Repairs and Recores at a
proposed cost of $20,200.00 and A & A Glass and Mirror for
furnishing Automotive Glass and Installation Services at a
proposed cost of $14,400,00, on a Contract Basis for One (1)
Year to the department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at
a total proposed cost of $34#600.00 are hereby accepted with
funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1983-84 Operating Budget,

Invitations to Bid were sent to firms
engaged in the businesses of automotive
parts and/or repairs, and auto glass,
using the following sources: Bidder
Applications, previous and County Bids,
department recommendations and the

telephone book. Bids were requested
from eight (8) Black and seven (7) Hispanics
Businesses registered in the City. No
Black firms replied. Two Hispanic firms
responded, one, Latin Auto Glass, Inc.,
with a bid, the other a no i .
BID EVALUATION:
All bids meet the specifications, and award
is recommended to the lowest bidders. The
additional discount (5% across the board
for award of all items bid) offered by
A & A Glass and Mirror puts their bid 2 to
3% below the next lowest bidder for glass
and $0.47 to $1.00 lower for installation.

After a complete staff review of the bids received, it is determined
that the above recommended vendors have submitted the lowest respon-
sible and responsive bids. The award of these one year contracts
will insure the availability of required outside repair service in
these important areas.
Funds for this purpose are available in the 1983-84 Department of
Building and Vehicle Maintenance budget.
