A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE 1)FEPLST
SYMPATHY AND SINCEREST CONDOLENCES OF THE
CITY COMMISSION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI AND ITS CITI/_ENS TO THE FAMILY AND
FRIENDS OF FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER
ALPHONSO LOFTON UPON HIS DEATH.
WHEREAS, since May, 1970, Florida Hiqhway Patrol Trooper
Alphonso Lofton served with distinction as the first Black
trooper; and
WHEREAS, Trooper Alphonso Lofton died at the age of 39
on February 25, 1984, after a long battle with multiple
sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on
behalf of the City of Miami and its citizens, to express its
deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Alphonso
Lofton;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby conveys to the
family and friends of Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Alphonso
Lofton its deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences, on
behalf of the citizens of the City of Miami, upon his death.
Section 2. This Resolution is offered by the City
Commission as a token of its respect and esteem.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of February , 1984.
