RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF OAKS
WHOLESALE DISTRIBUTORS, INC. FOR FURNISHING
ONE (1) NIGHT VISION PHOTOGRAPHIC SYSTEM
TO THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT A TOTAL COST
OF $7,100.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE PRIOR YEAR RESERVE FUND; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT
TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received September 19, 1983 for the furnishing of One (1)
Night Vision Photographic System to the Department of Police;
and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 31 potential
suppliers and 3 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in
the Prior Year Reserve Fund; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department
of Police for the purpose of replacing worn and obsolete surveil-
lance and evidence -gathering equipment for the Special Investiga-
tion Section; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Police recommend that the bid received from Oaks
Wholesale Distributors, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible
and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The September 19, 1983 bid of Oaks Whole-
sale Distributors, Inc. for furnishing One (1) Night Vision
Photographic System to the Department of Police at a total cost
of $7,100.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the Prior Year Reserve Fund.

Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby author-
ized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order
for this equipment.

It is recommended that the City
Commision pass a resolution authorizing
the purchase of a Nightvision
Photographic Equipment System from
Oaks Wholesale Distributors under City
Bid Jqo. 82-83-31 total cost o $7,10 .
The purchase of an additional Night Vision Photographic System is required as a
replacement for a system now being used by the Department of Police, Special
Investigation Section.
The system currently in use is outdated and no longer dependable. Repairs are
not recommended as they would be too costly.
This is a regular purchase which has been approved in the Department of Police
1982-83 Fiscal Year budget for equipment replacement.

engaged in the sale of Photographic Equip-
ment and/or Police Supplies, according to
Bidder Applications and Previous Bids.
Five (5) Black and seven (7) Hispanic
Businesses were sent bids. A "no bid" from
a Hispanic firm was the only Minority reply.
BID EVALUATION: Award is recommended to the low bidder
Oaks Wholesale Distributors, Inc. which meets
all specifications.
