WHEREAS, the national anti international media have reported anti document ed t he at roc i t ies he i nr; coinrni t t e d against those r i t i z e n s of Nicaraqua whose political views are not. sharers by the Marxist government of that r,ounlry; and WHEREAS, a Iarr)e number of persons are now residents of - the United States of America, having fled Nicaragua to avoid persecut ion for thr. eXprrssion of their social, economic and political beliefs; and WHEREAS, many of those Nicaraquan refugees, although contributing greatly to the well-hoinq of this community by their participation as honest and industrious me•nbers of American society, are now facing deportation proceedings; NOW, THEREFORE, gE It RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF 141AMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. It is hereby urged that. United States deportation proceedings against those foreign nationals of Nicaragua who have sought political asylum and who are living in this country be stopped immediately and it is hereby requested that the Work Permits of those refugees remain in force or be reinstated, if said Work Permits have been revoked.
