FOR FURNISHING ALL LABOR AND EQUIPMENT FOR BUILDING DEMOLITION AT 2000 S.W. 24TH STREET TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AT A TOTAL COST OF $9, 774; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 7TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUNDS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE; ESTABLISHING CONDITIONS UPON SUCH ACCEPTANCE. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received February 3, 1984 for the furnishing of labor and equipment to demolish the building at 2000 S.W. 24th Street to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 25 potential suppliers and 4 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 7th Year Community Development Funds; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of removing a vacant and unsafe building for the protection of the citizens of the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that the bid received from Tree Masters, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The February 3, 1984 bid of Tree Masters, Inc. for furnishing all labor and equipment for building demolition at 2000 S.W. 24th Street to the Department of CITY COMMISSION MEETIP<G OF MAR 29 1984 i-A 84--338. $9,774 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from 7th year Community Development Funds. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order for this service. Section 3. The herein acceptance is conditioned upon the absence of any judicial prohibition against having the City proceed in the subject demolition. PASSED AND ADOPTED this.29day of March , 1984. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received February 31 1984 for furnishing materials and equipment needed to demolish and clear away the debris from the structure as directed by the Fire, Rescue and Inspection services Department, Code Enforcement Section. The subject building has long been an eyesore; vacant, unsecured and a harbor for vagrants. It has been cited as a focal point of recent criminal activity and is deteriorated to the point of presenting an extreme hazard to the life and safety of surrounding citizenry. By this justification, we request its immediate demise. Funds are to be provided by the Community Development Program and recovery by normal lien holding proceedings. HWB:TR:mlb 84-336
