You have asked me to set out a proposed timetable for the
holding of public hearings on the proposed revision of the City
Charter, as well as for the adoption of same by two readings
before the Commission, all with a view to placing Charter Amend-
ment No. 1 on the October 4, 1984 ballot.
z The timetable that I propose is as follows:
1 April 26, 1984 - First public hearing at the
Fairlawn Elementary Community School, 444
j S.W. 60th Avenue
May 10, 1984 - Second public hearing at Miami
Northwes;.ern Community School, 7007 N.W. 12th
i Avenue
May 24, 1984 - Third public hearing at City
Hall
June 14, 1984 - Booker I . I;ashington Junior
High School, for the follo%Wing aC.tivit.ies:
Fourth public hearing; adoption of a reso-
lution instructing me to draft the proposed
charter amendment taking into occount the
citizen input obtained at the four public
hearings.
June 28, 1984 - First reading of an ordinance
embodying the proposed charter amendment.
July 12, 1984 - Manuel Artime Community
Center, 900 S.W. First Street: Second
reading (which is also a public hearing by
state law) of an ordinance embodying the
proposed charter amendment; adoption of a
resolution calling a special election for the
purpose of submitting the proposed charter
amendment to the electorate on October 4,
1984.

In addition, you have indicated a desire to have members of
the special committee which reviewed my earlier proposal present
at some of the meetings. The mechanics of such a request from
those members should be discussed at the first opportunity, so
that they may set time aside on their calendars for such purpose.
