RESOLUTION NO. 849"419,
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE LAND AND WATER CON-
SERVATION FUND PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF
$457,500 FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF BAYFRONT
PARK; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE AGREEMENT
IMPLEMENTING SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has applied for
grant funds in the amount of $500,000 from the Land and Water Conser-
vation Fund Program; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida and the U.S. Department of the
Interior, have approved the City of Miami's application for funds in
the amount of $457,500 for the development of Bayfront Park; and
WHEREAS, this grant will be matched on a 50/50 basis with dona-
tions from the private sector; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been designated eligible to be a
recipient of these funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept grant
funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund Program in the amount
of $457,500 for the development of Bayfront Park.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an
agreement with the Florida Department of Natural Resources to implement
this grant.

The Department of Parks and Recreation applied for a grant in the
amount of $500,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund for
Bayfront Park. The application was subsequently approved by the
Governor and Cabinet of Florida and the U.S. Department of the
Interior for $457,500.
The 50/50 matching requirement is expected to be met with private
donations and will be used to help develop the southern end of
Bayfront Park.

Effective February 21, 1984, the Governor and Cabinet have
approved your application for assistance from the Land and Water
Conservation Fund in the amount of $457, 500 to aid in the develop-
ment of Bayfront Perk.
Your application next will be submitted to the National Park
Service for approval. and processing as a local assistance project
of the State of Florida under provisions of the Land and Water
Conservation Fund program.
We ask you to carefully examine your financial assistance
needs in connection with this project and your capability for
seeing the project through to completion. If you feel that the
City can accept this grant and complete the project in a timely
manner, then notify us without delay.
If the grant is accepted, please send us an additional copy
of your original project application for our files. If your pro-
posal requests development assistance, recheck the facility cost
estimates for accuracy. If permits are required, be certain
that you have sent copies to us.
You will be apprised of further action regarding your project.
