BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the attached agreement with Stuart Sorg for the performance of special advisory services relating to harbors, rivers, marinas and waterfront issues at an annual compensation of $1.00. AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT, made this day of , 1984 by and between the City of Miami, a municipal corporation, under the laws of the State of Florida, (hereinafter called "CITY") and STUART SORG, (hereinafter called "SPECIAL ADVISOR"). WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the CITY is desirous of obtaining certain services relating to harbors, rivers, marinas and waterfront issues which may be rendered by a SPECIAL ADVISOR to the Mayor and the City Commission on harbors, rivers, marinas and waterfront for current and future projects; and WHEREAS, STUART SORG is capable and desirous of performing said services and other related tasks as may be desired by the CITY; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Resolution No. 83- , adopted , authorized the City Manager to execute an Agreement vith the SPECIAL ADVISOR for the services required at an annual compensation of One Dollar ($1.00); NOW, THEREFORE, the CI`i'Y and the SPECIAL ADVISOR, agree and covenant one to the other as follows: 1. That the duties and responsibilities of the SPECIAL ADVISOR to the Mayor and the City Commission for harbors, rivers, marinas and waterfront for current and future projects will be to assist the City Commission and the City Manager by developing projects and bringing them to the attention of the City Commission and the City Manager, by assuming the responsibility for specific projects assigned to him by the City Commission or the City Manager and reporting on these projects to the Waterfront Board and/or to the City Commission, by initiating a speaking tour of the CITY, promoting the CITY OF MIAMI as a waterborne world -class City, by attending meetings and seminars relating to a-6A harbors, rivers, waterfront and marina issues, and by representing the City from time to time at the request of the Administration or the Mayor and the City Commission_ 2. That the SPECIAL ADVISOR's continued association with the CITY shall_ be at the pleasure of the Mayor and City Commission and may be terminated by either party upon ten (10) days written notice to the other party. 3. That the SPECIAL ADVISOR shall be compensated at the rate of One Dollar ($1.00) per year for term of this Agreement. 4. That the SPECIAL ADVISOR shall be deemed to be an independent contractor, and not an agent or employee of the CITY, and shall not attain any rights or benefits under the Civil Service or Pension Ordinance of the CITY, or any rights generally afforded classified or unclassified employees, further lie shall not be deemed entitled to Florida Worker's Compensation benefits as an employee of t Ei c CITY.
