It is recomended that the City Commission approve the
attached resolution loaning a sum of $25,000 from the FY'84
Special Programs and recounts Budget, Contingent Fund to the
Department of Off -Street Parking. This money will be used
by said organization to fund the tenting of the City owned
Olympia Building located at 174 East Flagler Street. The
Department of Off -Street Parking will repay said loan from
their FY'85 budget.
The Olympia Building is invested with termites, thus creating a poor
working environment for the occupants of the building which include local
business people and their customers. as well as City employees. The Department
of Off -Street Parking estimates that the tenting of said building to eliminate
this problem will cost $25,000. The Gusman and Olympia Building Enterprise Fund
which would normally pay for this expenditure flocs not have sufficient cash flow
in its F1''84 hudad*. to fund same-. In addition, ordinances governing the
Off -Street Parking I?c, art.mcsit.'s Revcntuc Bonds are extremely restrictive
regarding the ui.il izOtiOn of' {parking rc:vertues for nnn king related matters.
Therefore, it is illt:uK u11cn the City of Miami to make available the
necessary funds to alleviate thi" problem.
This resolution has been prepared for the May 10, 1984 City Corrtimrnission meeting.
