AN ORDINANCS AMENDING SECTION I OF
ORDINANCE No. 8719 ADOPTED OCTOBER 26t
1917, THE SUMMARY, (;RANT APPROPRIATIONS
ORDINANCE, BY ESTABLISHING A NEW TRUST
AND AGENCY PUND p ENTITLED COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (TENTH YEAR),,,
AND APP�ROPRIATING $1-1,255pOOO FOR THE
EXECUTION OF SAME; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND CONTAINING A
SEVERABILITY PROVISION.
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted ordinance No. 8719 on
October 26, 1977, establishing resources and appropriations for
grant funds anticipated by the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the Department of Housing

& Urban Development will award to the City of Miami a grant of
$11,,;255,000 to provide community development activities for the
period commencing June 16, 1984, and ending June 15, 1985; and
WHEREAS, the herein Ordinance is a proper vehicle to
appropriate the aforesaid $11,255,000 grant;
NOWITHEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY -OF "FLORIDA-;
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted
October 26, 1977, is hereby amended in the following particulars.!/'

for the first time to be part of the computation , used to determina':=`
the'City's grant. the new data showed an increase in the number 'of
'low and moderate income persons and in the age of housing stock for
3 the City of Miami, therefore more funds have been allocated to ua.
In addition to the tenth year grant amount, staff has reviewed prevcue;
years programs to identify funds which remained from projects which
were closed outs unspent contingencies and other sources. As a
result of this review, staff has identified funds in the amount of
$2, 356, 530 to be reprogrammed. Also, it is anticipated that P.
$371,000 of program income will be received during the coming year.
-These supplements to the City's grant amount bring -the total- amount f'
• -to, be allocated to'$13,982,530. However,funding'remains inadequate
to meet community needs. It is the recommendation�of staff that
funding be concentrated in those activities which will have the
greatest impact:
