HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-84-0608J-84-246 0 RESOLUTION NO. 84-608 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INVIDIDUALS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI HERITAGE CONSERVATION BOARD. WHEREAS, the Heritage Conservation Board was established by Ordinance No. 9426, dated May 27, 1982, to recommend properties for designation as historic sites, historic districts, and archeological zones, to approve or deny Certificates of Appropriateness and to review development plans in environmentally significant areas of the City; and WHEREAS, it is intended that members of the Heritage Conservation Board shall be persons of knowledge, experience, mature judgment and background, having ability and desire to act in the public interest and representing the various special professional training, experience, and interests required to make informed and equitable decisions concerning conservation and protection of the physical environment; and WHEREAS, there are currently two vacancies on the Heritage Conservation Board, which positions were formerly filled by Charles E. Chase (Restoration Architect or Architectural Historian member); and Lola Bohn (Business and Finance or Law member); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following named persons are hereby appointed as members of the City of Miami Heritage Conservation Board to serve in their designated positions and for the specified terms of office: Margaret A. The Heritage Conservation Board currently han two vacancies which must be scheduled for appointment. One of the vacancies is due to the expiration of the term of Charlcs Chcjse (restoration architect). The Lecond vacancy ha:� been created by the removal of Lola Bohn (attorney), pur.Guant to Section 62-71 (e) of Article VII of Chiptcr 62 of the i,t: ro;n i City Cod(". The City C2.erk, advertised for nominations to the Board on March 6, 1984, and a deadline for receipt of nominations was set for March 27, 1984. It is requested that these appointments be scheduled on the City Commission meeting of April 5, 1984. The Heritage Conservation Ordinance requires that persons appointed to the Board represent the various special professional training, experience, and interests required to make informed and equitable decisions concerning conservation and protection of the physical environment. Five persons submitted applications to the City Clerk for appointment.to fill vacancies on the Board. Four of these persons meet the qualifications for Board membership. Howard L. Dutkin, who applied for the position of Restoration Architect, does not appear to qualify. Although he is a registered architect, his application fails to demonstrate any restoration experience, as required. Therefore, his name should not be considered. Page 1 of 2 AOL Howard V.
