SERVICE AT A COST OF $1j813.50 = EACH FROM FLORIDA VIDEO SYSTEMS, INC. UNDER A CURRENTLY EFFECTIVE STATE OF - FLORIDA CONTRACT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AND = ONE (1) FOR THE OFFICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION AT A TOTAL COST OF $10,881 WITH FUNDS THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE TELEPHONE FRANCHISE FEES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING y " AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS 'Y EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, continuing education and training of Fire 4 personnel is vital to the safety and welfare of the citizens of Miami; and WHEREAS, educational and training programs and materials for emergency medical service and firefighting are available on videotape for convenient and continuous viewing on Video Cassette Recorders -Reproducers; and WHEREAS, there is a currently effective State of Florida Contract No. 840-00-64-1 with Florida Video Systems, Inc. for the furnishing of video and closed circuit television equipment statewide; and WHEREAS, said firm's contract constitutes a responsible and responsive bid that meets the City's specifications for the herein requirement; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of providing continuing education and in-service fire training of EMS Paramedic and Firefighting personnel and one machine will be used for the Office of Public Information; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the Telephone Franchise Fees; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that the purchase from Florida Video Systems, Lne. heCITY COapproved; MEET��7 JUN RESOLU110N No. 84-60` 1r . 3 ? McCullough, C of RERERENGEs: City Commission Meeting 6/14I84 Director of Fire, escue and Inspection Services Department ENCLOSURES: It is recommended that a Resolution be adopted authorizing the purchase of ve 5 V deo Ca setts Recorders - Reproducers, at a cost o 1,648.65 each, plus an extended warranty service contract at a cost of $164.87 each, under a currently effect ve State of Florida Contract (No. 840-00-01), from Florida Video Systems, Inc. for a total of 9,067.60. "ihese 5 Sony VP-5000 U-Matic video cassette players will be distributed between the 3 districts, Rescue Headquarters and Fire, Rescue Training Center to allow EMS and Paramedic per- sonnel to view emergency medical service continuing education programs at their convenience. The players may also be utilized by individual company officers to provide inservice fire training and education materials for their respective companies and crew. The video cassette players as specified above are presently available under a currently effective State of Florida contract (No. 840-00-84-01) from Florida Video Systems, Inc.
