WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 16, 1984 for the furnishing of approximately 2000 cubic yards of Red Clay on a Contract basis for one (1) year, with the option to extend for an additional period,to the Department of Parks and Recreation; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 41 potential suppliers and 4 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1983-84 Special Programs and Accounts Fund, Parks Improvement Projects; and WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of Parks and Recreation for the purpose of regular replacement and maintenance of baseball fields at City Parks; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation recommend that the bid received from Florida Silica Sand Company, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1.
