GEORGE ASSO- CIATES FROM $40,000.00 TO $42r500.00 TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES PROVIDED BEYOND THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENT FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN OPPORTUNITY ANALYSIS FOR THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AUTHORIZED BY THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION. WHEREAS, by Resolution 83-118, the City Commmission authorized the City Manager to advertise, select and negotiate a contract with a qualified economic consulting firm to prepare a Development Opportunities Analysis for the Southeast Overtown/ Park West Community Redevelopment District at a cost not to exceed $40,000; WHEREAS, on June 9, 1983 the City Commission approved Resolution No. 83-500 authorizing the City Manager to execute a contractural agreement for $40,000 between the City and Hammer, Siler, George Associates for the preparation of a Development Opportunities Analysis for the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment District; and WHEREAS, the City Manager executed the Agreement on September 13, 1983; WHEREAS, Hammer, Siler George Associates fulfilled the contract agreement and at the request of the City additionally developed a second report exclusively on Overtown Urban Initiatives; WHEREAS, Hammer, Siler, George Associates incurred i additional costs to provide additional information delineated within the original contract pertaining to retail market demand; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U N 14 19H A RESOLUTIUIi no. Hammer, Siler, George Associates, HSGA, recently completed an opportunity analysis for the Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevel- opment Project and, at our request, additionally developed a sec- ond report exclusively on the Overtown Urban Initiatives Area. the firm also incurred additional costs on this project due to the inability of the City to provide certain basic data necessary for the market analysis, thus necessitating additional research on their behalf. Based on our analysis of the work performed, Hammer, Siler, George Associates is entitled to additional compensation, although we are not legally bound to any payments above those stated in the orig- inal Agreements between the Consultant and the City. Hammer, Siler, George Associates has been responsible for a number of con- tracts directly with the City or relating to joint County projects and in all instances their work has been exemplary.
