The Department of Public Works recommends
adoption of a resolution ordering the
ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA HIGHWAY IMPROVE-
MENT -PHASE II, H-4495, in the ALLAPATTAH
INDUSTRIAL AREA HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT -
PHASE II, H-4495.
In a continuing effort to serve the residents of the City of Miami,
a local improvement described as ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA HIGHWAY
- IMPROVEMENT -PHASE II, H-4495, is being proposed as an assessable
improvement under Section 56 of the Charter of the City of Miami.
This district is located in the area bordered by N.W. 20 Street, N.W.
22 Street, N.W. 10 Avenue and N.W. 17 Avenue.
The condition of certain street rights of way in the industrial zoned
area of Allapattah has deteriorated. The pavement is narrow, in poor
condition and/or out of grade; side parkways are in poor condition and
drainage problems exist.
All of these problems will be corrected on the streets included in
- ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT -PHASE II, H-4495. The
proposed construction will include asphaltic pavement, concrete side-
walk, concrete curbs and/or gutters, storm drainage and landscaping.
ALLAPATTAH INDUSTRIAL AREA HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT -PHASE II is included
in the City of Miami's 1983-89 Capital Improvement Program. The
construction of this improvement will be funded by the Highway and
Storm Sewer General Obligation Bond Funds. The estimated total cost
of this project is $1.3 million. The Off -Street Parking Authority has
agreed to reimburse the City in the amount of $500 per new, paved,
on -street parking space up to a maximum of $50,000 for parking improve-
ments in the area.
