Pursuant to our telephone conversation of June 21 1984, Coconut
Local Development Corporation is requesting your assistance i secur g
a small grant from the City to sponsor the annual Neal Cozie Football
Camp r-, George Washington Junior High School on Saturday, July 7th,
7Z10 I .
Tis is for inner City youth primarily from Overtown, Liberty City
and Coconut Grove who have shor-m ability and interest in the Sport.
Col zi e, a forr7er ir1enber and most valuable player of the Tampa Bay
uccaneers, has b een conducting this canp annually for the past few
cars, wholly at his or,,n expense as a benefit to these youth.
Unfortunately, this year he is unable to pay for the necessary
expenditures, and so has asked that the Local Development Corporation
sponsor the event through local businesses and the City of Miami.
In the past, expenses have averaged approximately S2,800.00 for the
entire budet. Coconut Grove Local Development Corporation has already
secured contributions in cash and services of approximately $700.00.
The Budget is as follows: -
Airfare and Travelling Expenses: $
5 players @ $200 each = 1,000.00
Athletic Equipment
T. Shirt 220 @ $6.00
Meals
220 @ $2.00
= 1,320.00

Total Budget $3,000.00_
Our goal is to raise donations in cash and services from local business
for half of the above anount and to ask the city to match the other
half. We are therefore requesting $1,500.00 from the City for this
event.
Your help in arranging this grant is greatly appreciated.
