WHEREAS, the SME-33 Simulator Site will serve a neces- sary function in the best interest of the conununity and the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department's SME-33 Simulator Site will contain specialized equipment and programs for the training of sworn personnel; and WHEREAS, the facility does not presently have a burglar alarm system; and WHEREAS, a burglar alarm system is necessary for the security of the SME-33 Simulator, the facility, and other office furniture/equipment housed therin; and WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses for the burglar alarm system have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget for Fiscal Year 1983-84; and WHEREAS, funds to cover these expenses are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Funding in an amount not to exceed four thousand dollars ($4,000) is hereby allocated from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund to purchase and install the burglar alarm system for the Police Department's SALE-33 Simulator facility. FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE: AL 18 7984 f iLE: SUBJECT: Item for City Commission Action REFERENCES: SME-33 Simulator Site Burglar Alarm System ENCLOSURES: Two ( 2 ) "It is requested that the City Commission approve the purchase and installation of a burglar alarm system for the Police Department's SME-33 Simulator Site at an amount not to exceed four thousand doll-rs ($4,000); and authorize the use of City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund monies for this system as per the attached resolution." The City of Miami Commission approved a contract with September and Associates East, Inc. for the purchase and development of a training and educational simulator to enhance and develop the skills of law enforcement personnel. The site for the SME-33 Simulator, which is currently being remodeled, is the old fire station located at 2301 N.W. 23rd Street. In order to provide adequate and necessary security to the site and the simulator equipment housed therein, it is necessary to purchase and install a burglar alarm system. Attached is a sketch for the proposed system, as well as the specifications. These were prepared by the Permits and Alarm Ordinance Unit, as required by the Citv_ of Miami, based on a survey of the facility. The funds for this alarm system are available within the Citv of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund. Therefore, it is recommended that the City Commission approve this request for $4,000 in order to provide the required security for the SME-33 Simulator Site. CITY OF MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT SME 33 SIMULATOR SITE ALARM SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS Furnish all equipment and installation for a Burglary/Robbery alarm system to be installed at the Police Simulator site located at 2301 N.W. 23 Street, Miami, Fla. The alarm system shall consist as follows: 1. Provide one (1) master control as or equal to the Ademco No. 1023-12 module with rechargeable power supply. 2. Provide thirteen (13) door contacts as or equal to the Ademco No. 39. 3. Provide one (1) over head door contacts as or equal to Ademco No. 57-2L. 4. Provide six (6) passive infrared detectors as or equal to the Colorado Electro-Optics Model No. 9635. 5. Provide an electronic siren, 30 Watts, as or equal to the Ademco No. 717. 6. Provide one (1) remote station to arm/disarm alarm system as or equal to Ademco No. 9787si. 7. Provide 24-hour monitoring over standard telephone line, utilizing a digital dialing system. 8. Provide all wiring runs in protective jacketing and comply with the existing Dade County electrical codes. 9. The contract should provide for City ownership of the alarm system as well as a one (1) year parts and labor warranty of the entire alarm system. 10. Maintenance - Option that the City may or may not excercise. The maintenance renewal, if r_.otion is exercised, shall include: a. Parts and labor second year: b. Parts and labor, third year: C.
