TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE THE
PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the SME-33 Simulator Site will serve a necessary
function in the best interest of the community and the City of
Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Pol1_ce Department's SME-33 Simulator
Site will contain several offices, training classrooms and two (2)
debriefing rooms; and
WIiT REAS, the video/training equipment and office furniture
being requested is not presently available; and
WHEREAS, this equipment and office furniture is necessary
in order for the SME-33 Simulator Site to be operational as a training
facility; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses of equipment
and furniture have not been included in the Police Department's normal
operating budget for Fiscal Year 1983-84; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover these expenses are available in the
City oP*Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Funding in the amount of thirty ei.cilit thousand
dollars ($3(',000) is hereby allocated from the City of Miami Law
Enforcement Trust Fund to purchase necessary video/training equipment
and.office furniture for the Police Department's SME-33 Simulator
Site.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue purchase orders for this
equipment.

"It is requested that the City
Commission approve the purchase
of thirty eight thousand dollars
($38,000) worth of video/training
equipment and office furniture
for the Police Department's SME-
33 Simulator Site; and, authorize
the use of City of Miami Law En-
forcement Trust Fund monies for
these expenses as per the attached
resolution."
The City of Miami Commission approved a contract with September
and Associates East, Inc. for the purchase and development of a
training and educational simulator to enhance and develop the
skills of law enforcement personnel. In order to house this
equipment it became necessary to remodel an old fire station.
At this time, the fire station has been remodeled to accommodate
the SME-33 and will require equipping and furnishing prior to
the site being ready for operation as a training facility. The
video/training equipment and office furniture necessar-,., includes:
1. Two (2) Ikagami 19" high resolution T.V. monitors
for debriefing rooms at approximately $2,000 each.
2. Two (2) 3/4" video tape players for debriefing
rooms, Sony V.P. 2260 at approximately S3,900 each.
3. One hundred cushion-visitor/student choir; for of-
fices, control room, observation booths and three
(3) classrooms at appro%imateiv $50.00 each.
4. Three (3) e%,ecuti.ve teaks e..ecutive S%�ivel
chairs with arms at approximately Y270 each for
the desks and $140 each for the chairs.
5. Photo copier with sorter. Cost unknown.
6. Five (5) filing cabinets, 5 drawer lateral size

7. Two (2) 16mm movie projectors, Bell and Howell Model
1568B at approximately $2,515 each.
8. Two (2) slide projectors, Kodak AT Projector III with
variable electronic timer and automatic focus and ekta-
graphic FF zoon lens, 100 - 150mm at approximately $517
each.
9. Three(3) movie screens, Luma Elite, 70" X 70" at
approximately $123 each.
10. Two (2) overhead transparency projectors, 311 Brand #5-
088 at approximately $689 each.
11. Four (4) conference tables at approximately $89 each.
12. Two (2) executive tabletop floresence lamps 425 at
approximately $100 each.
13. Four (4) wall mounted clocks at approximately $29 each.
14. Podium with microphone, amplifier and speakers, corduble
type S-500, at approximately $755.
15. Three (3) chalkboards, 4 X 5 at approximately $103 each.
16. Six (6) National Electronic Corporation 25" color monitors,
CM255A, two (2) for the control room and four (4) for the
classrooms, at a total cost of approximately $3,000.
17. Three (3) video distribution amplifiers and power supply
(1 input/6 output), two Grass Valley 3400-210 and one (1)
Grass Valley 3200, at a total cost of approximately $1,750.
18. Two Grass Valley 3400-X audio distribution amplifiers at
a total cost of approximately $700.
19. Three ( 3 ) dehumidifit_ rs, one (1) for control, one (1) for pro-
jection room, one (1) for storage, at a total approximate
cost of $1,200.
The funds for these items are available within the City of Miami Law
Enforcement Trust fund. It is requested that the City Commission
approve this request for $38,000 in order to equip and furnish the
SME-33 Simulator Site.
