WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received May 24, 1984 for the furnishing of all Labor and Mate- rials to Reroof a total of three (3) Pool Buildings at Curtis and Virrick Parks, including the replacement of Supporting Lumber at the City's option, on a short-term contract basis until final acceptance, for the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance; and WHEREAS, invitation were mailed to 60 potential suppliers and 12 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1983-84 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing replacement of non -repairable Roofs on City structures; and WHEREAS, the City 1ganager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the bid received from Ilowe Construction Company, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The May 24, 1984 bid of Howe Construction Company, Inc. for furnishing all Labor and Materials to Reroof Pool Buildings at Curtis and Virrick Parks on a short-term contract basis to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a total proposed cost of $9,214.00 is hereby accepted with CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF JUL 30 L/�1984 IUii i._ 84-79 ILI PW v fi funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1983-84 operating Budget of the Department of P;)i--,kg and R-creation. Pursuant to the issuance of Bid r83-84-68, a total of 12 bids were received for the reroofing of Curtis and Virrick Parks pool build- ings. These bids were thoroughly evaluated and award is hereby recommended to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Howe Construction Company, Incorporated. The roofs at these pool buildings have been in poor condition for a long period of time. After a complete inspection of the condition of the roofs, it was determined that no further repair would be econom- ical. The decision was then made to replace the roofs. The replac- ing of these roofs is part of the on -going program to improve the condition of the City of Miami parks and pools.
