THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT TIIE PURCIFASING
AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS
EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received June 18, 1984 for the furnishing of all Labor,
Materials and Equipment as required to Modify and Convert two
(2) Three -Wheeled Scooters for Rescue use for the Department of
Fire, Rescuc and Inspection Services; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 49 potential
suppliers and 3 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the
Telephone Franchise Fees, and Florida Power and Light Franchise
Fees; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department
of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of
completing the project to replace worn equipment used in Rescue
operations at City stadiums and auditoriums; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend
that the bid received from Dowling Fire Equipment, Inc. be
accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, I3E IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The June 18, 1984 bid of Dowling Fire
Equipment, Inc. for furnishing Body Modification and LPG
Conversion of Two (2) Rescue Scooters to the Department of Fire,

Rescue and Tnspecti_on Services at a total cost of $15,334.00
is hereby accepted with :funds therefor hereby allocated from
the Telephone T'rans-hi.se Fees and Florida Power_ and Light
Franchise Fees.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized
to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order for
this equipment.

all Eaborf Matcrial-s and Equjxm-,nt as rewired, for the Body
Modification and E,M Conversion of tmo (2) aishn--in Scooters
for use as Rescue Vehicles, to the D--partmn2nt of FLIn -Rescue
and In ction Services.
Ordinance No. 9775 established a goal of j%.jaxdi-ng 50?-, of the City's
total dollar volume of all. expenditures for All Goods and Services
to Black and Hispanic Minority Business Entcaq)riscs on an equal basis.
Minority Vendors who are into -rested in submitting bids and ijho are not
registered with the City as minority vendors are advised to contact
the City Purchasing Office, 1145 N.W. 11th Street, Room 126, Telephone
579-6380.
Detailed specifications for the bid are available upon request at the
City Purchasing Office.
The City Manager- may reject all bids and readvertise.

It is recommended that an Award of
Bid be made and a Resolution be
passed accepting the lowest Bid as
received from Dowling Fire Equipment
of Silver Springs, Florida, for the
complete conversion of two new City -
owned Cushman scooter chassis to
become Rescue scooters at a one-time
purchase price of $15,334.00.
The two new scooter chassis being supplied for the conversion are
1983 Cushmans purchased under Bid No. 82-83-114 for this expressed
purpose. The conversion provided for by this request will complete
this Rescue Scooter Project.
_ These scooters are utilized by the Rescue Division in providing
Advanced Life Support within the interior of City stadiums and
auditoriums during selected events (football games, rock concerts,
boat shows), as well as other City -sponsored events, such as the
Annual Gocmbay Festival and Calle ocho Festival. The new scooters
will replace the two existing 1971 models that have become difficult
to repair and maintain due to their age and problems in locating
parts.
Funds for this project are provided as follows:
1. $11,100 - Project ',105000-280502-850 (Telephone Franchise)
2. $ 4,234 - Project #350059-280113-850 (F.P.& L. Franchise
