On August 2, 1984 I attended a meeting In, New York with Miss
Universe Inc., which was represented by Mr. Harold Glasser. Also
attending from Miami were Mr. Ted Arenson, President of Carnival
Cruise Lines, and Mr. Monty Trainer, President of the Greater
Miami Host Committee, Inc. In this meeting a tentative agreement
uss negotiated by the Most Committee (see attached letter). This
eg-tetmeOt is subject to the Host Committee's obtaining funds from
th* different governmental entities, no later than August 15,
1984.
The expected contributions from local governments are as follows:
a
City of Miami $250,000 per year for two years
Metro -Dade County 250,000 per year for two years
State of Florida 500,000 per year for two years
City of Miami Beach 150,000 per year for two years

Gentlemen:
We have discussed an arrangement pursuant to which the following
events will be held in Miami:
1. 1985 Miss Teen U.S.A. Pageant scheduled (subject to network
and sponsor approval) for a telecast date of Monday,
January 21, 1985. It is anticipated that contestants will
arrive on January 2, 1985.
2. 1985 Miss Universe Pageant scheduled (subject to network
and sponsor approval) for a telecast date of Monday,
July 15, 1985. It is anticipated that contestants will
arrive some time following June 15, 1985.
3. 1986 Miss Teen U.S.A. Pageant. No date has been scheduled
but this will take place during the later part of January,
1096. We will advise you of the scheduled date as soon as is

4. 1996 Miss U.S.A. Pageant scheduled for the middle of clay, 1986.

The cash payment to be made to Miss Universe, Inc. for the 1966 ev0_
shall be the suss of $1, 000, 000.00. This sum includes sets. In. ad+
ditio>n, Miss Universe, Inc. shall be entitled to receive the flxet-

Tho cash payment to be made to miss Universe, Inc. for the 1986 events
shall be the sum of $1,000,000.00. This sum includes sets. in ad"
dition, Miss Universe, Inc. shall be entitled to receive the first
$100,000.00 of proceeds from the sale of tickets to the 1986 events.
It in contemplated that in the event that the foregoing financial
arrangements are satisfactory to both sides, a detailed agreement,
including our usual contract terms, shall be executed by the parties*
The cost of lighting shall be your responsibility. Transaction is to
be concluded on or before August 15, 1984.
This letter is a statement of intent and not a contract.
