AUTHORIZING Till-, CITY HANAGI R TO F,NECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED WA`, OF DADE
COUNTY SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL, OF THE CITY
MANAGER AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has indicated its intent to
support certain social, services programs providing services to
residents of the Ci. t.y of Miami.; and
WHEREAS, tiro City Commission has previously allocated
Community Devolop mrnt., FcdevaJ. Rcvenuc— :-Ahari.ng, and Go-neral. Funds
to the Belafonte T,-coley Ccnt.er, Inc. to provide employment,
vocational and proEl,arj to City of Mia►ii youth; and
WHEREAS, the: Unitcd 1%`ay of Dade County and Metropolitan Dade
County have indicated their intent to provide $50,000 each for a
management resources and technical assistance project and financial
assistance to benefit the Bela!'onte Tocolcyt Center, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission passed Mlotion 84-932 which
expressed the Ci.ty'a intent to provide $50,000 to assist the
Belafonte Taccil.cy Center.
NOW, THEREFORE-, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. 4-50,000 of` Community Development E1--loc}; Grant Funds
are hereby allocated to they United Wi--,y of Dad(ti County, Inc.
Section 2. '11c. City Kz-vna;Alr i- hc!rt•,bv to execute
an agree ;ent �-iit h the Uni -vd E �-y ref` E z dc, COLJ!,ty, subject to
approval of the: Cety Attorney aN to f`or.-n and correctness, to
provide financial and technical assistance to the Belafonte Tacolcy
Center, Inc.

Center has a total operating 1--)udqct of approximately $1.4 million,
of which $146,422 is provided by the city of Miami axed $262,500 is
provided by the United Way. The agency also roceive(3 funds from
Metropolitan Da&'_'� County.
We have been %,.,,orking with the United Way and the PgencY on these
prohlc:i-ii.s and feel they can be resolved by implementing a manage-
ment resources and technical assistance project to benefit the
agency.

It is proposed that the City of Miami, United Way, and Metropolitan
Dade County each provide $50,000 for a total project budget of
$150,000. The United Way would administer the funds

The attached resolution fozn alines Motion 84-932 and allocates an
amount not to exceed $50,000 to the United Way to implement this
project. It further authorizes you to execute an agreement with the
United Way subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and
correctness.
