AMERICAN YOUTH DEVLIOPPIENT. INC. TO PROVIDE AN
AFTER SCHOOL CARL PRO-IECT IN EDISON LITTLE RIVER,
AUTHORi7INIG THL CITY PiANAGLR TO ENTER AN AGREEMENT
WITH SAID AGENICY,
WHEREAS, Haitian Poirrican Youth Development, Inc. is a non-profit or-
ganization which provides educational, recreational, cultural and organized
sports activities to youth 6-18 years of age residing in the Edison Little
River/Little Haiti area of the- City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, Haitian /oicrican Youth Development, Inc. has operated the
aforementioned progrr,rn on a voluntary basis; and
WHEREAS, Haitian American Youth Developmment, Inc. has requested funds
from the City to operate the aforeirrentioned after school care program for
disadvantaged vouth-. and
WHEREAS, the Haitian Task Force has identified after school care ser-
vices as a priority service category to the Haitian coimnunity; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission passed Motions 84-641 and 84-694, which
expressed the Cit;y's intent to provide $20,000 from Tenth Year Community
Development Block Grant funds to the Haitian American Youth Development, Inc.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. $20,000 of Tenth Year Community Development Block Grant
Funds are hereby allocated to Haitian American Youth Development, Inc.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agree-
ment with the aforementioned Agency to provide support to the Agency's after
school care progrem.

At the June 14, 1984 meeting, the City Commission adopted Motion
84-641 expressing its intent to allocate �10,000 to Haitian
_ American Youth Development, Inc. The City Comm'i.tsi.on, on June
28, 19811, allocated an additional. : 10,000 by Fiot
- Funds are to operate an zffor ,school. care program for
disadvantaged youth in the Edison Tittle river/Kittle Haiti Area.
The attached Resolution formalizes the previous Commission
action.
