The City held numerous meetings gathering public support and feedback between 2016-2022 2. After 5 years of meetings, designs, and feedback the City finally presented a Master Plan for approval. 3. The City Commission unanimously approved the Morningside Park Master Plan on March 10, 2022, with Resolution R-22-0116 4. The approved master plan shows a living natural shoreline. 5. The City Shoreline plan includes a living natural shoreline, which matches the approved Master Plan 6. The City Shoreline plan keeps the living natural shoreline in keeping with the original design intent for the Park. 7. The City plan minimizes changes and keeps as much of the current condition and trees as possible. 8. Destroying the natural shoreline would require additional approvals that may not be granted. 9. A seawall on the shoreline would require the bulldozing and demolition of the entire natural shoreline and removal of all trees that are currently along the shoreline. 10. The cost of demolishing trees would significantly increase the mitigation fees. 11. A Seawall at the Shoreline does not match the original design intent of the park. 12. A seawall on the shoreline would drastically change the character and public enjoyment of the park. 13. A seawall at the shoreline would limit public access to the water. 14. A seawall at the shoreline is dangerous! Kids can fall in the water and not be able to get out safely. 15. A seawall at the shoreline is a Life safety issue. 16. The plan is ready to start construction, all we need is the funding. 17. We have waited years to see progress with the park, a redesign will set us back indefinitely. 18. The Shoreline plan is Phase 1 of a larger master plan to upgrade the park and neighborhood drainage and stormwater systems. 19. Our park, neighborhood and homes are flooding! We need to start solving the problem. 20. The City's plan installs a significant drainage system along the Shoreline so the park will drain much faster and be more usable. 21. The plans also make the park ADA compliant, adding a variety of new ADA access points to the shoreline. 22. The plans create newly designed landscape areas that will increase the green space for public enjoyment. 23. The Living natural Shoreline Plan complies with City's strategic goals and Plans. 24. Miami Forever Climate Ready Strategy prioritizes and integrates green infrastructure that builds resiliency and supports the health of Biscayne Bay 25. Resilient 305 strategy enhances natural systems, expand nature -based infrastructure, design and implement green waterfront infrastructure. 26. City of Miami Strategic Plan reduce the duration and impact of coastal flooding and accelerate the investment in features along the waterfront. 27. The Loop Road still exists.
