"Jacl;." watson, who recently passed away, joined the City Attorney's Staff on April. 1, 1922 and two years Later was appointed Miami City Attorney, a position which he held for 33 years; and WHEREAS, in addition to being City Attorney, he also assumed the position of City Manager in 1951, and at one time was head of the Public Safety Department; and WHEREAS, while employed by the City of Miami, Mr. Watson initiated such projects as a multi -million dollar water system:, the Cite incinC=ratan-, the Orange Bowl Stadium and an addition to ,7acl,,son I,emorial Hospital; and led the legal battle to permit in,, t-_illation of �1-ir -inyl meters on City Streets and Miami thez_uby t--_he first city to establish the legal right of ,, irtuni ci pz l..ity to levy a charge for parking on public street.::; and FdHEIIT., in 1961, as a tribute to his many years of dedicated : cry=ice to the City of Miami, the City Commission named the City's law and communications building, the "Watson Building"; and CITY COl'vMISS� i `•1 � EE T1 Tj,iG C01-' S E P 20 t t RESirtt�T�Ji� ?: WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on behalf of the City of Miami and its citizens, to express its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of John W.
