who
recently passed
away, joined
the City
Attorney's Staff
on
April. 1, 1922 and
two years Later was appointed Miami City Attorney, a position
which he held for 33 years; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being City Attorney, he also
assumed the position of City Manager in 1951, and at one time
was head of the Public Safety Department; and
WHEREAS, while employed by the City of Miami, Mr.
Watson initiated such projects as a multi -million dollar
water system:, the Cite incinC=ratan-, the Orange Bowl Stadium
and an addition to ,7acl,,son I,emorial Hospital; and
led the legal battle to

first city to establish
the legal

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on
behalf of the City of Miami and its citizens, to express its
deepest sympathy to the family and friends of John W. Watson;
