A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PURCHASE 4,444 ADDITIONAL REPLACEMENT SEATS
FOR THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM ON BID 83-84--111
WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY ACCEPTED BY RESOLUTION
NO. 84-892, ADOPTED JULY 31, 1984 ALLOCATING
ANTICIPATED RESORT TAX REVENUES THEREFOR WITH
THE HEREIN AUTHORIZATION SUBJECT TO AVAIL-
ABILITY OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, the Capital Improvement Ordinance was amended
July 12, 1984 to begin a seat modernization program in the Orange
Bowl Stadium with an initial order of $85,000 of new contoured
plastic seats; and
WHEREAS, on July 31, 1984s the City Commission passed
Resolution 84-892 which authorized the City Manager to execute a -
contract with the lowest acceptable bidder for contoured plastic
seats at an initial cost of $85,000; and
WHEREAS, an order for 3,700 seats costing $83,250 was placed
on September 20, 1984 with Sport Seating, Inc., the sole bidder
on Bid # 83-84-111; and ;4

WHEREAS, the Office of Stadiums has already received Tourist
'Development Council approval for the first $85,000 purchase of
seats and will send a request for Resort Tax funding for the
second $100,000 purchase;

Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase r`

4,444 additional replacement seats for the Orange $owl Stadium
on aid 83-84-111 which was previously accepted by Resolution
No. 84-892, adopted July 31, 1984 allocating Anticipated Resort
Tax Revenues therefor with the herein authorization subject
to availability of funds.

The Office of Stadiums recommends the
adoption of a resolution authorizing
the City Manager to encumber $100,000,
which originally was appropriated in
Fiscal Year 1983-84 to construct an
Orange Bowl Stadium practice field for
use by the United States Football
League's Miami franchise, for the
purpose of purchasing 4,444 additional
replacement seats for the Orange Bowl
Stadium.
At the July 12, 1984 Commission meeting the Capital Improvement
_ Ordinance was amended to begin a seat modernization program in
the Orang• Bowl with an initial order of $85,000 of new con-
toured plastic seats. The Tourist Development Council had
approved Resort Tax funding for this initial seating purchase.
At the July 31, 1984 Commission meeting Resolution 84-892 was
passed which authorized the City Manager to execute a contract
with the lowest acceptable bidder for molded plastic seats at
an initial cost of $85,000. An order for 3,700 seats was pTaced

On July 31, 1984, the Commission passed Ordinance 9867 which
amended the Orange Bowl operating budget by $100,000 for the
purpose of constructing an Orange Bowl practice field for the
