INTRR-OFFICE MEMORANDUM

ti
{ Mr. Howard V. Gary DATE: September 14, 1984 ink,
City Manager
SUBJECT: Purchase of Fire Fighter
Protective Clothing
FROM: Kretor
ullough, Ch f REFERENc[s: For City Commission Meeting
of Fire, Rescu and of October 11, 1984
Inspection Services Department EHeoauRE:,
It is recommended that a resolution
be passed authorizing the purchase
of Fire Fighter Protective Clothina
from Cairns and and Brother, Inc.,
under the current Dade County Hid
No. 0077 (copy attached), at an
estimated cost of $60,000 to $70,000
for FY 84-85.
Specifications for the attached Dade County Award Sheet were
developed through a County -wide committee made up of fire
department representatives. The Department of Fire, Rescue
and Inspection Services is satisfied that the products
offered meet those specifications and are the state-of-the-art
available for our personnel.
Protective clothing purchased under this agreement would meet
the now required state mandated minimum requirements. The
initial purchase would replace all existing protective
clothing that does not meet this standard. The protective,
clothing would be purchased on an as -needed basis through.the
life of the contract (contract ends July 31, 1985), and it is
anticipated that an initial purchase of approximately 150-160"
sets would take place upon passing of the resolution.
Funds for this project are in the Fire Fighter Clothing`Code
#280601-075 of the 1984-85 fiscal year General Fund.
