A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF
BERT NEWCOMB TREE AND LANDSCAPING
SERVICE FOR RELOCATING TREES AND
PALMS IN BAYFRONT PARK AT A TOTAL
COST OF $5,650.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS
THEREFOR FROM THE SPECIAL PROGRAMS
AND ACCOUNTS WITH REIMBURSEMENT TO
THE CITY FROM THE ORANGE BOWL
COMMITTEE (1/3 OF THE COST) AND
FROM MIAMI MOTOR SPORTS, INC., (1/3
OF THE CUST); AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING
AGENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR
THIS PROJECT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were re-
ceived October 22, 1984, for the relocation of trees and palms in
Bayfront Park; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 65 potential suppliers
and 7 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from Special
Programs and Accounts with reimbursement to the City of one-third
of the cost from the Orange Bowl Committee and one-third of the
cost from Miami Motor Sports, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, this project will allow for the location of addi-
tional bleachers in Bayfront Park for the Miami Grand Prix and
the Orange Bowl Parade; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Parks and Recreation recommend that the bid received from Bert
Newcomb Tree and Landscaping Service, Inc., be accepted as the
lowest responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The October 22, 1984, bid of Bert Newcomb Tree
and Landscaping Service for relocating trees and palms in Bay -
front Park at a total cost of $5,650.00 is hereby accepted with
funds available from Special Programs and Accounts with reim-
bursement of one-third of the cost from the Orange Bowl Committee
and one-third of the cost from Miami Motor Sports, Inc.

Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order for this
work.

Sealed bids will be received by the City Manager and City Clerk
of the City of Miami, Florida not later than
3:00 p.m. October 22, 1984 for furnishing
All Labor and Materials for the Relocation and Replanting of
proximately 33 Trees within Bayfront Park, 100 5iscayne
Boulevard, for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Ordinance No. 9775 established a goal of Awarding 50% of the City's
total dollar volume of all expenditures for All Goods and Services
to Black and Hispanic Minority Business Enterprises on an equal basis.
Minority Vendors who are interested in submitting bids and who are not
registered with the City as minority vendors are advised to contact
the City Purchasing Office, 1145 N.W. 11th Street, Room 126, Telephone
579-6380.
Detailed specifications for the bid are available upon request at the
City Purchasing Office.
The City Manager may reject all bids and readvertise.

be made and a resolution be passed
accepting the most advantageous
bid as received from Bert Newcomb
Tree and Landscaping Service for
the relocation of trees and palms
in Bayfront Park for a total cost
of $5,650."
Pursuant to Motion No. 84-948 of August 16, 1984, which directed
the City Manager to arrange for the moving of Palm trees in connection
with Bayside, the Grand Prix, and the Orange Bowl Parade, and to public
notice, sealed bids were received October 22, 1984, for relocating
trees and palms in Bayfront Park.
The purpose of the relocation of the trees and palms is to provide
for the location of additional bleachers for the Miami Grand Prix
and the Orange Bowl Parade.
Funds are available for this project from Special Programs and
Accounts with reimbursement to the City from the Orange Bowl
Committee (1/3), and Miami Motor Sports, Inc., (1/3).
