HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-84-1226J-84- , - 9y6 RESOLUTION NO._94a*12 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAG- ER TO ESTA13LISH AND FILL A FULL-TIME STAFF POSITION, AS DETERMINED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES, TO SERVE IN THE CAPACITY OF COORDINATOR FOR THE COMMITTEE ON BEAUTIFICATION AND ENVIRON- MENT WITH REGARD TO ALL COMMITTEE AC- TIVITIES; ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENTAL BUDG- ET TO FUND SUCH POSITION. WHEREAS, the City Commission established a Committee on Beautification and Environment; and WHEREAS, the City Commission appointed Mr. E. Albert Pallot to be Chairman of said Committee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pallot has stated that the Committee is in need of a full-time staff person to organize Committee program activi- ties and to prepare and disseminate public information and press releases; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 84-1085 generally requepted City Commission advance approval before establishing and/or filling any staff position vacancies; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to estab- lish and fill one (1) full-time staff position, as determined by the Department of Human Resources, to serve as Coordinator for the Committee on Beautification and Environment in order to organize Committee program activities and to prepare and dissemi- nate public information and press releases. Section 2. An amount not to exceed $25,000 is hereby allo- cated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund to the Department of Parks and Recreation Budget to pay for the cost of this position. Gary o�TE: October 1, 1984 ME: City Manager susJccr: Staff Person for the Committee on Beautifica- tion and Environment FROM: Carl Kern REFERENCEf: ' Acting Director Department of Parks ENCLOSURES: and Recreation "It is recommended that the City Manag- er be authorized to establish and fill a full-time staff position for the Committee on Beautification and Envi- ronment in order to serve in the capac- ity of coordinator with regard to all Committee activities." Mr. E. Albert Pallot, Chairman of the Committee on Beautification and Environment, has requested that a full time staff person be funded and assigned to work as a coordinator for the Committee. This person would be responsible for organizing program activities for the Com- mittee as well as preparing and disseminating public information and press releases. A person capable of performing these duties would include an Administrative Assistant I or a Publicity Writer, both of which are grade 25A, job basis positions, which have a step one salary of $24,003.70. Mr. Pallot has offered office space for this individual. In order to provide the level of support required by the Committee, the Parks and Recreation Department recommends that a full time job basis position be added and funded at a grade 25A level from Special Programs and Accounts.
