It is recommended that the Commission apaoint
certain individuals to the City of Miami Latin
Quarter -Review--Board , per the attache
resolution.
Items on the City Commission agenda of October 10, 1984 included
the 2nd reading of a new zoning district for the Latin Quarter
and a Latin Quarter Review Board. The purpose at the Review
Board is to review proposed development in the Latin Quarter and
make recommendations to the Planning Director prior to issuance
of a Class C permit.
To implement the Latin Quarter Review Board, appointments should
be made comprised of the following:
3- architects
2- engineers, landscape architects or architects
4-residents, business persons or civic activists
1-alternate, with similar qualifications
A list of candidates is attached, including all architects,
engineers, landscape architects, businesspersons and civic
activists who worked with this Department on the Latin Quarter
project.
Please note that the proposed legislation for the Review Board
allows the first series of appointments, to be made without
advertising the vacancies.
It is requested that this item be included on the City Commission
meeting of October 10, 1984.

A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
TO THE CITY OF MIAMI' LATIN QUARTER REVIEW
BOARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Latin Quarter Review Board was
established by Ordinance No. �, date

1984, to review plans and/or related documents, and to recommend

approval or disapproval to the Planning Director for projects
requiring a Class "C" special permit within the boundaries of the
Latin Quarter District in accordance with the Latin Quarter

Design Guidelines and Standards, other applicable guidelines and
standards, and the intent of the Latin Quarter Special Public

Interest (SPI-14, 14.11 14.2) Zoning District; and
WHEREAS, it is intended that members of the Latin Quarter
Review Board shall be persons of knowledge, experience, mature
judgment and background, having ability and desire to act in the
public interest and representing the various special professional

training, experience, and interests required to make informed and

equitable decisions concerning enhancement, conservation, and

protection of the physical environment; and
WHEREAS, the Latin Quarter Review Board shall consist of
nine(9) members, and one (1) alternate to consist of at least
three (3) architects, two (2) engineers, landscape architects or
architects, and at least four (4) residents, businessmen or civic
activists, and one (1) alternate member with qualification
similar to the other members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
