PROVIDING THE CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRA- �' TION WITH ACCEPTABLE PROOF THAT 250,000 COPIES OF THE DIRECTORY WERE PRINTED. P t i Eq WHEREAS, Miami en sus Manos, Inc. has made a request to the City of Miami to be paid for an advertisement published in its 1984 ,Miami en sus Manos,,Spanish directory; and WHEREAS,,Miami en sus Manos, Inc. stated before the City F., Commission that 250,000 copies of the directory were circulated, of ' which 80,000 to 100,000 were distributed in the Miami area; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Motion 84-971, on �r> September 13, 1984, expressed its intent to allocate $5,000 to pay ' for the said advertisement provided the administration is able to ascertain and verify that 250,000 copies of the directory were printed as was stated before the City Commission, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY '«t OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a Purchase Order in an amount not to exceed $5,000 from Special Pro- grams fr i, n.3a� i and Accounts, Contingent Fund for an advertisement xg , published in the 1984 "Miami en sus Manos" Spanish directory. Section 2. F(r Cds eda, Director REFERENCES: City Commission Agenda Department of Community Development December 13, 1984 ENCLOSURES. On September 13, 1984, by Motion 84-971, the City Commission expressed its intent to allocate an amount not to exceed $5,000.00 to pay Alfredo Marrero for a City of Miami advertisement pub- lished in "Miami En Sus Manos", a Spanish tele- phone directory. The Motion was conditioned upon the organization submitting proof to the admini- stration that 250,000 copies of the directory were printed, as was stated before the City Commission. The attached resolution formalizes Motion 84-971. It is further recommended that only $3,300.00 be allocated once the conditions have been met since the price list provided by Miami En Sus Manos (.see attached) states that a full page advertisement costs $3,300.00. Funds can be made available from Special Pro- grams and Accounts, Contingent Fund. FILE. On September 13, 1984, Alfredo Marrero, Director of Public Relations for "Miami En Sus Manos", appeared before the City Commission to request reimbursement in the amount of $5,000.00 for an advertisement that the publication printed on the City of Miami. Mr. Marrero advised the City Commission that 250,000 copies of the directory were printed, of which 80,000 to 100,000 were distributed in the Miami area. By Motion 84-971, the City Commission expressed its intent to allocate up to $5,000.00 to cover the cost of said advertisement, with the condition that proof was provided to the administration that 250,000 copies were printed. The administration has, as proof of printing, requested a copy of the original paid printing invoice and a copy of the cancelled check issued to the printers to verify the printing of the 250,000 copies. Mr. Marrero has submitted a notarized letter under his signature stating that 94,825 copies of the directory were circulated in the Miami area. 84-1423 X# ft oward V. Gary Page two November 20, 1984 We have a commercial, industrial and professional price list of the advertise- ments which states that a full -page advertisement costs $3,300.00. They are billing the City of Miami $5,000.00 for the full page advertisement.
